From research to good practice

With the rise nationally of threats made towards schools, districts are looking for ways to tackle this issue. From government report into the Safe School Initiative (2004) many key findings are still just as relevant to today's students

  • Report finding 1
  • Report finding 2
  • Report finding 3
  • Report finding 4
  • Report finding 5
Many attackers felt bullied, persecuted, or injured by
others prior to the attack.
Without key indicators of what a potential perpetrator looks like, schools and districts have little to identify students at risk of making school-based threats.

SKILLS

How can we help?

Satchel Pulse Skills is a comprehensive social-emotional learning platform that provides assessment tools, grouping capabilities, and a vast library of ready-to-use classroom resources and intervention plans—all in one place.

With district-wide implementation, it enables educators to track patterns and monitor progress using real-time assessment data, ensuring the right resources are delivered exactly where they're needed. By adopting Skills across your schools, you'll foster a unified culture where every student shares a common language and understanding of respect and empathy, dramatically reducing incidents of bullying and social isolation.

PERCEPTIONS

How can we help?

Satchel Pulse Perceptions is an easy-to-use (and administer) survey tool that can help identify early warning signs by gauging student, staff, and community perspectives on safety, inclusion, belonging, and well-being. This data equips schools to address concerns before they escalate

Every school environment is unique, and tailored strategies are key to improving safety. Perceptions is able to offer a range of different surveys or you can easily create your own to address the issues that are relevant to individual schools within your district. Once the data is collected, we offer reports, suggestions, and actions that you can take to make improvements based on the answers to individual questions.

BUILDING BELONGING

How can we help?

Our Building Belonging curriculum empowers students to foster the skills to make meaningful connections and friendships, creating a culture of inclusion where no one feels left behind. By teaching empathy, respect, and collaboration, our curriculum reduces social isolation and ways to find common ground and understand others’ viewpoint.

Cultivating a safe school environment starts with nurturing a sense of belonging, especially among older students. To address this need, we’ve created a standalone curriculum as an extension of our Skills solution, specifically tailored for middle and high school students to help them develop this crucial sense of connection.
